a quarter of a year has just passed by. oh how time flies. not that i am worrying about getting older and turning the big 3-0. on the contrary, it's like i have found peace because i have reached this milestone in my life. life has been good to me. i have a job, i have done some travelling, i am healthy (touch wood) and i am alive!
what more can i ask for? maybe the problem is with this contentment. it makes you not strive harder to go further and higher.
i even feel contented with singlehood (mom will smack her head knowing this). so how am i to fulfil the resolution made for 07??? i need excitement in my life!!! where is that guy who will sweep me off my feet and make my heart palpitate non-stop? i guess this kind of thing will only happen on screen, huh. am i asking for the impossible??
yes, this is escapism in the new age. make a clean breast of whatever you want and let the water continue to flow under the bridge. a portal where the other hidden self can be released and explore as freely as it wants to. SO PLEASE NO NAME CALLING HERE...I AM ANONYMOUS OR JUST KNOWN AS ESCAPE!!! repeat after me...THIS IS A SPACE TO ESCAPE FOR ESCAPE.

sleepless
the thought of getting a sound sleep at night nowadays seems to be a faraway thing. people are more concerned about safety issues where i stay in.
neighbours will gather outside the house discussing about the robbery cases that have been so rampant in the area within one week! one of the robberies was the row directly in front of mine, the corner lot house. man, this family is rich lah and their house is equipped with the alarm system. from what i heard, the alarm rang, but by the time the owner reached the switch, the robber was with his parang pointing at the neck already. this case was reported in the chinese paper.
then 2 days later, another case in a house nearby and another almost successful robbery if not for a boy who saw lights when he woke up to go to toilet. so scary.
everyone has told everyone else to be vigilant and secure the house. a friend has suggested keeping a hockey stick in the room. but i wonder whether the hockey stick will come to mind when it happens. touch wood...dun want to be the next victim.

nurtured by nature, powered by technology
just some photos of proton city for those who have never been there. a very quiet place but not something i will call a township (you need to have people living there before calling it a town). most of the bungalows are still empty except for 2 or 3.
there is a sports complex as well, equipped with track and field equipments, football pitch, indoor squash and badminton courts, outdoor takraw, basketball and netball courts. however, the running track has only officially been used once (last month) for a district level athletics competition since completion. what a waste. i wonder whether residents living here are free to use the complex.
proton gen 2 models were seen lining up outside the factory for despatch....and what a long stretch it is.

new companion
i miss blogging!!!!
has been bogged down by work for these 2 weeks!!
the table is spread with papers and files!!! and all need urgent attention. so die lah...which ever is more urgent or which ever needs to be handed in pronto is given immediate attention. sigh.
another reason for not blogging is the slow opening of the blogger log-in page. why do i have this problem at the workplace? i have no problem logging in at all at home. i just cannot seem to be able to get through the log-in page. anyone has any explanation?
well, might not have to depend on the office pc now. just received a new notebook : compaq presario v3000. hehe...not the latest model, so of course when it is free u dun complain lah. i found out that it has even been discountinued in hp official homepage! gulp....like we are the dumping site.
can do my surfing at the workplace via wi-fi, and dun have to fight for the limited pc. hehe...can even watch dvds! the thought just titillates me..shh....dun tell the boss.

congratulations nicol!!!
watched squash for the very first time in my life.
venue: berjaya times square, kl
date: 18 march 2007
time: 5-6.30pm
game: kl open, women's final; nicol david vs natalie grinham
this is something new to me. dun even know the rules of the game, or whatever the referee was calling out. just knew nicol was winning when the crowd cheered and clapped. ;) better go and check some basics of the game next time so i won't feel like a fool watching a game of squash.
it was actually quite difficult to even catch the game from where i was standing. had to stretch my neck to follow the ball. some unruly people were shouting while there were long rallies and were warned. is it really suitable to hold such a big event in a mall and have children running about or crying???
result: nicol david, defending champion of kl open.

new craze in town
new hobby...paper folding...not my new hobby but for some ladies i know here.
and the greetings of the day now is : eh how is the folding coming along???
i guess the craze started before chinese new year when everyone wanted to decorate their homes with fans, lanterns, red auspicious shaped hangings, etc.
then it has continued. as you know, chinese do have all their gold and silver papers they fold the whole year long to be burnt to the ancestors.
what more with the coming of all souls day (ching ming), it gives you another reason to indulge in this.
they have even bought books to refer to and some busy parents even send their daughters to master the skill.
i know men have joined this group too and are active as well.
as for me, i am just a bystander looking as more folded creations are brought into the house.

1 week escapade
one week....yes...you heard me right!! another week of rest!! dun curse me lah.....
it was hectic ok when it was back to work after chinese new year and the pace had not stopped at all till now. this week is only one to escape from work and to psyche oneself to resume work. sigh.
this is a week to escape!!!
MATTA fair is back and hopefully this time around something will materialize out of this fair...like the failed beijing trip in march! but i am short of one to make the group even!! how???? someone will have to be the odd one out and that person will most likely be me! duh..the other four going are all sisters! any gal out there interested to go?
cambodia trip in august is made safer now....thanks to the recent air asia discount frenzy (yet again!). 6 others colleagues have managed to book their tickets but i will still have to fly there one day earlier! they booked a day later because it was cheaper!!! and yes they can save one day of lodging in the hotel. oooohhhhhh!!! i will have to do the ground checking and source for deals. i hope we can arrange the landtour before we go. anyone has any advice to share? destination: phnom penh-siam reap-phnom penh.

life is a maze
ooh...if life is only just as spontaneous, impulsive, nerve-wrecking, exhilarating with happy endings as becky bloomwood's (aka mrs brandon).
i am totally smitten by this character from the shopaholic series. which girl isn't? she does land herself in hot soup most of the times, but everything fares well for her in the end. if only life is just as simple.
we have all our insecurities, blunders, doubts and the negative list goes on...but how many can be as frank (minus the visa bills) as becky? being such a reserved person myself, everything is bottled up and sometimes i think i am paranoid! :)
but i guess what i am writing now is just out of envy for becky. as soon as the effect of the book runs off, i will be back to the aggressive, self-centred, carefree self. you won't even know if i have any prob (thanks to my camouflage skills).
dun worry, i am not in any problem here.
so becky, what is next on the shopping list?

harry potter and the deathly hallows
pre-order has started...i did mine in mph.
pay a deposit of rm70, get a rm10 cash voucher, and the estimated price of the book is rm120 (sssoooo expensive!!!!..the most expensive book i will buy).
will be released on 21 july. comes with a paper bag and limited edition harry potter mug. hmm..initially the release date was 7 july ah...that would be so much better hehehehe....
aiyoh..i just found out on amazon that they are only selling the book for £9!!! so unfair!! why is the book so expensive in malaysia?? i hope that 120 price mentioned by mph is only an estimate. gulp!
diamond is a girl's best friend...gosh, will everyone think twice now after watching blood diamond? i mean, it has been known all these while that people are exploited in the mine...but seeing it on screen makes it much more difficult to swallow or on the other hand, more real. if all guys brought their girlfriends to see this movie, they might be able to save quite a bit huh.
so does that mean no more bling bling??
this is just something i got forwarded in the mailbox. hehehe....dun u all wish that healthy lifestyle is just as simple as all the answers given??
HEALTH QUESTION &ANSWER SESSION
Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain.
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! ... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO . Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!
Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.
And remember:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming Whoo what a ride".
With our heartfelt BEST wishes for a healthy, serene and fun-filled 2007 !
