i survived another busy week

another has passed and another week will come.
well, it looks like it is going to be a weekly affair on this blog since i really cannot fit in any time during the weekdays to update it. anyway, i doubt my busy work life makes an interesting read as well. i will be complaining and complaining about the pile of work i have most of the time instead.

the chinese new year mood is slowly creeping everywhere now. i can see neighbours doing their spring cleaning already, some applying new coats of paint here and there and also talking about new year shopping.

well, this year, it is going to be a quiet affair at home. according to chinese tradition, we won't be able to celebrate anything as we have to mourn for one year for our grandma's death. grandma passed away last year on the second day of the lunar calendar, hence we won't be celebrating the coming of the year of the snake on 10 february 2013. it is my year....and that means i am getting another year older. ssssssssssssssssssssssssss

although i am not celebrating, it doesn't mean that i can't be receiving anything. i got this jar of cornflake and raisin cookies from a student. gosh, they are really crunchy and good. i have to remind myself not to take too many pieces at one go.  gosh, i will miss pineapple jam tart this year since there won't be any baking at home. so no custard cookies for my cousin as well.

it was a 6-day working week last week. having to go back to work on a saturday is really a dreadful thing. there will be a few more saturdays where we will have to go back for work. how tiring.

i was supposed to join in-house trainings at work yesterday, but half-way through the training, i was 'invited' to go to a function held in the hall. hahahaa.....my presence was to fill up another seat at the table allocated to us and also becoming the photographer so we had some form  of evidence.

the function was launching of my kasih, love my school, love my neighbourhood programme initiated by dr ngau boon keat, a billionaire and a philantropist. selected underprivileged families and students will get cards which they can use in exchange for food and essential items. there is a monthly quota in the card, and they can swipe the amount at selected outlets for their items. such a noble cause.
the hall was filled to the brim and lunch was provided as well. the caterer was garden seafood restaurant from tg malim.

most of the dishes were fried and served with thick gravy. we had chicken, fish, tofu, prawn and mantou. i am not sure if they had vegetable because i did not wait for all to be served. i left at 1.30p.m.

i was glad to get my rest at the weekend......and have a can of cold beer. this beer was not served at the hall ok. this was bought by my brother. since when did he become a drinker? hmmh....anyway, i am going to pack a few cans to bring back to bidor. it will be my body cooling drink on a hot day. ;)

well, i have survived another week despite almost breaking down on thursday seeing all the piles of books on my table to be marked. hope it is going to be a better week next.
