to start with....a sinful lunch at dunkin donuts at tapah rest area. had been out 2 days in a row for lunch at bidor, before that (kfc and a cafe) so ran out of idea where to have lunch. hence, drove all the way into the highway rest area. i had to buy someone lunch actually for being such a great help in handling the scrabble competition for me. so what are a few calories in to thank him. hahahaha.....luckily the weather was good so had a jog in the evening before another heavy dinner.
my combo set 4. roast turkey and cheese, tri choc donut (lousy) and iced coffee.
at night, 8 of us all in one toyota unser headed to kg coldstream (on the way to teluk intan) for steamboat. the soup base is seaweed. the ingredients used were all fresh. the bill came up to rm148. cheap huh?
for appetiser, dough fritters with some stuffed fish meat and mayo sauce. one more deep fried indulgence: pork...heavenly. so crispy and fragrant. i saw the table next to ours having fried squid. mouth watering too.
all the ingredients for steamboat. not that much...we chose the rm110 set. the fish and prawns were really fresh and so were the others (squid, meatballs, fishballs, chicken, pig tripe, jelly fish, dumplings). oh, there is vermicelli too.
the claypot used.
this is really good. much better than the buffet one i had in ipoh previously. lousy unfresh stuff given. so if you are going to teluk intan, do stop by at kg coldstream for this. there is a signboard pointing you towards the village. once there, past the basketball court and the next row of shop is where the restaurant is- a double-storey wooden one.
