brrr...yes, it was really really coooolllddd.
maximum was only 18C and minimum was 10C. and the day was windy and cloudy as well. more brrrrrrrrr....
i don't think it reached 18 at all, it could have just lingered around 15.bbbrrrrrr..

so on this day, we had decided to go to palace of versailles on the outskirt of paris, about 30 mins by train from our place. we chose to go on tuesday because they had the musical fountain display on tuesdays in summer. we bought our tickets with www.conciergerie.com and skipped the queue again.

the train that we took was a double decker one.

upon reaching the train station, it was only 5 mins walk to the palace. there are many 'art' sculptures by bernar vernet around the garden. those brown sculptures.

the entrance. the opening time was delayed because there was a strike somewhere and they could not even confirm if it was going to be open at all. luckily, it did open for us. phew.

marble sculptures decorating the grand garden. the garden was huge and i got tired that day walking the garden.

walk walk walk walk
there are four different parts of the garden, north south east and west. unfortunately, there are not many flowers to see. just green but not colourful.
one of the sculptures by the artist bernar vernet in the garden.

the fountain at the end of the garden. musical fountain? well, their definition of musical fountain is- having all the fountains in the garden switched on and playing classical music and broadcasting it on loud speakers. hahaha...what a letdown. and i thought they were going to synchronize the music with the water of the fountain. haiz....and this is the big deal? you have to buy an extra ticket to watch this you know.

grand palace.
more statues at the garden.

got hungry while walking the garden, hence bought myself a nutella crepe. ok lah, not that great.

ok, let's enter the palace. we were given free audioguides. very helpful indeed when visiting the many opulent rooms in the palace.
the room of mirrors. the grandest hall in the palace.

the decorations lining the walls.

some of the exhibits.

the paintings on the ceiling! magnifique.

the king's room. oh brocade

laduree- the macaron shop. yup, you can even get them here in the palace. no more for me.

well, that was our visit to versailles palace. to know more, go to : http://en.chateauversailles.fr/homepage

by the time you read this you would have reached the UK i guess.. and you're very lucky because the weather has been grey wet and horrible and it's slowly picking up as we head towards the weekend so you have brought the sunshine with you !!

welcome to the UK...

let me know of your programme in London as I am still hoping to be able to get a day's leave next week to meet up with you (depending on my boss's mood, quite unlikely but not impossible)

have fun in Bath and I look forward to reading about it, a lot !
