1+1 patients

grandpa is back from the hospital and what a relief it was for everyone.
went to pick him up today and again, we had to wait for them to settle the bill. the bill came up to more than rm3000 for the 5 days stay and treatment.

as soon as he got home, he went to his chair, sat down and read the newspaper. then he headed to his bedroom for his nap. after his lunch, he napped again. i guess he missed his bed. heard grandma talking on the phone with her granddaughter in australia that grandpa said he did not wanna go back to the hospital again because all those blood tests were painful.

well, his wish will not be granted. on wednesday, i still have to bring him back for another blood test to determine his blood ion level i think. it has not reached the ideal level yet. they gave him tablets to take at home too. he will have to go for weekly check-ups, then monthly ones up till 6 months.

then the house has another patient too. how different father and son can be. one waits to be served while one will go and do everything himself without notifying everyone.

i was using the computer when dad came to me and asked me to open a bottle of eye-drop for him. i was curious because as far as i knew, he did not use any. when i looked up, i saw jack sparrow, well with white cotton instead of the black patch looking down at me. he actually went for a small surgery on his eye (left) to remove 2 small lumps of flesh (dunno what you call it scientifically) on his inner lid. if the lumps grew bigger, it would block your eyesight. mom did not know about it too. he did it in a clinic in rawang today. now he needs help with putting the eye drop every hour. i just did it for him and saw lots of blood in the eye. he said he called the doctor and he said it was ok. dad will go for his check-up on christmas eve.

initially i thought dad could drive grandpa down on wednesday because i need to pack for hk...but now, change of plan. i better start doing my packing tomorrow and check all the details i need before i go.

well, at least everyone is home now and grandma can get his rest. the chinese will celebrate winter solstice tomorrow by eating glutinous rice balls which signifies the family's togetherness. well, in some kind of sense, it is a celebration in this house.
so have you got your packet of glutinous rice flour?

I hope both men recovers soon. Oh yeah, my mother in law made the glutinous rice balls and serve it during tea when I went to see them last weekend. Eventhough she's a Muslim convert there's a lot of Chinese rituals she still practises which she keeps exposing us to. Happy packing dear, :)

i'm thinking of going to the chinese shop to get a pack of pre-made glutinous rice balls. see how it goes later.

happy winter solstice to you too and hope all the patients at home get well soon.
