last post from melbourne in winter....and again it is all about food and a little bit of shopping.
first....my late night supper at a korean place called gami. gosh....as i am typing this, i am already hungry. yeah, it is the same time i had my supper yesterday.
fried chicken seems to be a favourite at korean eatery and boy, the one at gami are really good.
snacks to go with the meal- prawn crackers and pickled radish.
had beer instead of soju. beer goes better with fried chicken definitely.
corn and cheese pancake courtesy from the shop as our friend is a friend of the boss.
a stew of seafood and cabbage and onion. really appetising and apt for a cold night.
the yummylicious friend chicken. one is topped with garlic sauce while the other should be chilli sauce. i prefer the one with garlic sauce since it is sweater. the fried chicken here is really crispy. love it.
salad... which was only 1/4 finished.
i will miss the fried chicken here no doubt. i wonder if i can find equally good ones in malaysia. well, i guess the search will start once i get back. lol.
now to today's meals.
breakfast....at st. ali at south melbourne. the place is quite popular with coffee connoisseur and i can see it with my own eyes from the busy orders they have. there were a lot of takeaways as well.
the latte was not bad, but somehow i still miss the one i got from three bag full.
the barista corner.
the breakfast we ordered. our initial order was not printed and hence did not go to the kitchen....so we got a free croissant. the breakfast was nothing to shout about, so i guess that is why i did not see that many eating in but having takeaways instead?
well, my favourite spot this time around for breakfast is won by top paddock handsdown.
there was no lunch since our breakfast was finished at around noon. then it was shopping at westfield.
and dinner at richmond....chinese food. hahaha.....affordable meal at reasonable prices.
roast duck and pork.
clay pot tofu.......it was sizzling when it came to the table, hence the smoke blurring the camera lense.
chinese broccoli.
chilli pipi.
it was a treat for my last day here, so i din have to pay.
then we crossed the road to the newly opened dessert shop.
this bowl is a hot one while the rest are cold.
this is mango.
it was good. luckily we ordered just four to share among the six of us. it was just right.
and that ended the night.
thank god packing was successful. i managed to put everything i bought into the suitcase and it did not go overweight. well not that i bought a lot. it was mostly light things which i got. here are some:
two sets of pajamas from target. the left one was one direction's. hahhaa.....the shorts was too small, i think they are meant for girls. the others on the right did not come in a set, it was separate but they do pair well right? a hello kitty top and a sheep bottom. sleep time will be more enjoyable now.
another set of sleepwear, but this is for my brother who will be going to aussie in august. he was planning to sleep in his bermudas....what crazy idea. he had no idea how cold it is going to be then. it is like the peak of winter. this will keep him warm when he sleeps under thick doona/duvet (as i know it in other forms of english). only the aussie call it a doona.
a knit top from ralph lauren.....psss....from the children's range. that is the advantage when one is not that big in size. you get to make more saving when you find a size that fits you in the children's department. my sister also got exactly the same one hahaa....the offer was too good to resist. from david jones.
a necklace with agate which i got from one of the quaint jewellery boutiques in royal arcade. i love the patterns on the stone.
chocolates for dad and my kids.
a pair of leather boots. muahahaha....50% discount. definitely worth it buying these here. i am sure i won't find any in malaysia at the price that i paid. the box is coming back with me. i found a lot of boots in black, but since i already have one in black, brown is the choice.
ok, that is all. i did not have any huge damage on the wallet. there is still some money to buy breakfast tomorrow at the airport before my flight and a cup of latte. and i guess i won't be in aussie land again so soon after this trip. definitely not again this year....nor next year. 2 years later??
i better gather up some courage to go travelling alone and try to learn to get used to it since it is quiet difficult to find a travel companion. which place will be the first place that i will go alone?? safety is the priority.
