show mi

my idol is having her concerts at the moment in hk!!! all those photos and reports are really tantalising. i can't wait for her to come to genting highlands. it won't be as explosive, impressive and high as the one in hk i am sure. concerts in hk are totally different from the ones staged in the mini stage in hk. sigh. and we are paying more!! the most expensive concert ticket at the coliseum hk is only hk$480. VIP seat in gh is RM390! cut throat!! somemore no band!!

what to do...

wonder if all those costumes and dance moves will be brought here.

just for laugh

the ugly malaysian

is this what u want to see once u land in a new country??

urgghh....what an ugly photo. what will the tourists think?

we have a big and spacious airport...but it is so quiet and deserted.

we have staff standing everywhere in their uniforms...but they do not bother to make any eye contact nor greet you nor welcome you.

we have toilets and attending staff inside... but the cubicles are all wet and paper is strewn on the floor.

we have shop assistants standing at every corner of the shop...but none bother to shout out a welcome or thank you for browsing in the store.

when will we reach a clean state status and can walk around feeling clean and tidy? the thought of this being far away is giving me a feeling of nausea.

malaysian students too passive, incurious

in today's star: malaysian students too passive and incurious.

so are we going to start the blame game now? who are we to blame if we want to point fingers?
the education system again??
are we thought to think and to voice opinions in school??
imagine the time when u were in school...were you penalised for voicing out? did teachers hold discussion sessions where you argue and and support with facts?
notice that the minister in the article did not give any opinion on that issue except repeating the result of the survey.
i personally think that the classroom is the place where students can be encouraged and nurtured to form the thinking and questioning culture. what is wrong with asking questions when one is curious? teachers should not be too defensive when students ask questions or query the information given because it is part and parcel of learning. it is not a shameful thing to be corrected or to admit one's mistakes. be open to suggestions and grow together with the students. the society will miss out a lot if the future generation is made to shut up and only accept things spoon-fed to them. where is development if there is no inquisitiveness and curiousity?
maybe the syllabus needs another revamp. hahah...make it more project based where students have to write papers discussing subjects or carry out surveys or make it more communicative like what we had in the 60s.
the language factor might be one which hampers students from voicing out. so yeah, improve their language grasp first.

back from a seedy place

i am back!!!

feel so refreshed. i guess some time away from work is ok. and plus the coming holidays are something to look forward to.

let me show u some of the photos i got when i stayed in klang. the area is nothing to shout about lah. the first word that came to my mind when i reached was 'seedy'. yeah, how could they put us up in such an area?? it was quite old and rundown and did not look safe. i was so worried when i drove up to the parking bay, all the while looking at the peeling paint and dark driveway.

i was quite lucky though, the room i got was quite new. i think they were in the renovation process and one of the newly renovated rooms was mine. phew. so i had new carpet in my room with river view (sludgy one) and a lot of space. that was a relief.

food was so so...edible only.

meeting..sucked...listened to stuff that could be done in one day, and came back with plenty of work to carry out.

apparently shopping for baju kurung is really cheap here. groups of ladies made their way to bukit raja shopping centre and came back with bags of cheap bajus. some just got theirs for 11.90. dirt cheap or what? these are ready sewn bajus mind you. yeah, i also got one pair...just could not resist since it is so cheap. you can't even buy a piece of cloth for that amount of money.

so all in all it was an eye-opening trip. never been there and now i can say i have been there ;)

dazed and spinning

woke up today in a daze. the head was spinning and i could not even figure what i had to do next.
i am really getting old, the lack of sleep can just throw me off balance. just because i dun sleep at my usual time the night before, i am off course. slept a bit late last night because i had packing to do. yeah, i wish i was going off for some vacation. but reality was much cruel. i had to attend a meeting for 3 days which i think could be conducted in just one short session in one day. waste of money...they really have a lot to waste.
is it good to get some time off work? not really....there will be piles waiting for you when u get back as usual and at this time of the year, the work is really quite a lot. i won't be able to take the annual staff photo too...and this is the first year i am the head of dept where i have the opportunity to sit on the front row!!! someone suggested putting another person in my place and later we can do a cut and paste. muahahaha.
well, will leave you here now for a few days or if another letter come for another meeting which was originally scheduled for next week, i will be off for a week!!!
have a good week ahead!

happy mother's day

the restaurants are full as usual but no, we do not go to one. i just happen to drive past one ;)
grandma made popiah today because bro came back..it is one of his fav food. he gets what he wants now as he will be leaving for china on 24th this month. dunno how long he will be there so i guess there will be that farewell dinner as well. he is in kl shopping for a bag now.
going to get mom a new handphone cause hers is nearing its time. luckily her request is just a simple and plain one. phew... less than 200. so those siblings i have out there, are you gonna chip in? ;P

the star, metro, saturday 12 may 2007

the star, metro, klang valley edition (last page)

the star, metro, perak edition (last page)

i want my money back!!! every weekend also cheated. one can do the maths by looking at the differences on the number of pages i get here. if the page increase does not apply to perak, why the hike in price?? do you guys find anything extra in the extra pages? i dun find there is any articles or anything interesting to shout about compared to what we get before the price hike.
mind you, the star paper has so many pages of full page advertisements as well. minus the advertisements, i get less articles to read!

drought

dang! it is so hot nowadays. not even a drop of moisture in the air. everything is sucked dry.
a few drops of rain dropped in, then that's it.
sleeping is baaaddd.....air-cond is kaput!! the fan is not turning at all. so now have to rely on the small stand fan only. gosh...when will this end?

freedom

i read someone wrote that freedom is a state of mind. indeed it is.

when the mind is free of worry, no matter where you are, you will feel as light as feather and be at ease with yourself.

as your mind is burdened with problems and worries, your physical surrounding will not help make you any freer. a large piece of space in front of you, but everything is cluttered in your head. how free is that?

how do i feel now? i feel light headed ;) only the body is aching [due to age catching up ;(] and am looking at a pile of books in front of me. but i feel free. free like a bird flying in the big blue sky.

escaped.

carjack 2

the feature today in the star about kereta potong and people who had experienced carjack struck a chord in me. my aunt is not alone in her experience. there are many out there with similar experiences who had encountered worse and more traumatised.
why is this problem so rampant nowadays?? what is happening to the society? is this shortcut to fast money? where is the virtue and moral? life is no longer that simple and plain i guess. people have more wishes, ambitions, etc to fulfil. and they have become greedier. it is not as simple as the good old days where having 3 meals on the table and a roof over the head are enough. the desire for material wealth is far greater now no doubt. everywhere you look, posters, advertisements, etc tantalise the human desires to obtain more!
it is not wrong to have ambitions, (yeah, one can dream of owning that scarlett ferrari) but do not stir the evil side in you to harm and hurt others. it is your personal agenda and it should remain so.
having material wealth feels great, i admit, but getting them through immoral ways is not.

the star, the moon, the sun??!!

i feel cheated! the price of the weekend issues of the star has increased from rm1.20 to rm1.50 but all i get is extra 6 pages of 'semetro'..their metro edition. some pages from the star mag/ variety are missing..what happen to the best dressed list?? how come i dun get it this sunday??? or they left mine out??
can those in kl tell me how thick your metro edition is? i know your usual metro edition is way thicker than what we get here.
when they first announced about the price increase, they were saying how ppl have more time during the weekend to read their papers thus the increase in pages. i was in fact quite looking forward to it...if i have that much time in my hand lah. but this weekend, i had some things in my hand, and i only read yesterday's paper at 5p.m. and i was cursing away while trying to finish each page. i know some busy folks only read their papers during the weekend (mon to sun papers!), so is this a good thing?
i have no problem with the previous issues of the weekenders. for me they are enuf for weekend read already.

;(

heard shocking news before i even managed to step into the house today.
an aunt was brought for a terror ride by three youths who tried to rob her car. it was in damansara and the time was around 8pm.
it the nightmare started when her car was banged from behind. she saw a youth and so went down to check. she forgot to pull her car key out from the ignition and when the door closed, it locked automatically.
then she was dragged into their car (she din see the 2 others earlier) and brought her for a ride. luckily they dumped her at a housing area and only snatched her necklace. i think she was unharmed. then she tried to knock on the doors of the houses there to get help, but as you know, city dwellers do not open their doors easily to strangers. luckily one of the doors knocked was her student (she was a teacher) and she managed to lodge a report.
by the time she got back to the scene, police were already there and some passersby as well. passersby saw the incident and they reported it.
man, what is happening to the society of today? i am so glad that she was unharmed. things could be worse. thank god.
what would you do if your car was knocked? sit in the car? drive to the nearest police station?
i am scared....

sweat it beijing

omg, beijing experienced one of the hottest days of the year this week....
31.9 C was recorded. still not as high as in malaysia but it is totally different with the heat in malaysia i heard.
keep my fingers crossed...beijing in 3 weeks!!!
aaarggghh......global warming!!!!

something that put a smile on my face when i looked at the paper at 7 this morning. ;)
  1. footballer of the year
  2. player of the year
  3. young player of the year
  4. portugal's sportsman of the year

;(

i am sick...booo hoooo hoooo...
i think the super hot and dry weather has taken its toll on me and i am finally withering under the heat.
the nose is running non-stop, the throat is damn dry and the fever is kicking in. even the tip of the tongue wants to participate and swell with glee. how cruel.
and it all started with the throat inflammation. i guess i am just not made for shouting. been raising my voice on the field for one week. although the few days of public holidays rested my voice till thursday, it was full blast on thursday. i woke up in the middle of that night and knew i was in trouble with my throat when i could not even utter a sound. the throat felt as coarse as sandpaper. on friday it was only whispers and a trip to the pharmacy to get the anti-inflammatory lozenges (difflam). mind you, they are not your usual strepsils, they set me back rm9 for only 8 lozenges and i have already finished this 8. today got mom to buy me another 8.
i am taking in water like a fish now. a bottle of herbal tea has been downed (1.5l) and my lips still feel so dry and red.

Aah, the bliss of carbohydrates and fat. ;)

It is not easy being a woman when one has to take care of the appearance. Please, dun tell me you dun care. That will be a lie.
Sugar and carb are the things to watch out for or the things to cut off from the diet. Too much intake of sugar will accelerate the ageing process as it has been found to create wrinkles faster and make one look older. That includes the intake of carbohydrate too as one knows carb is converted into glucose when digested.
So where does that leave us? Can we just live by gazing at those heavenly desserts peering from behind glass displays? No way man!!! I am going to miss tasting all those heavenly cakes sis makes!

Here I am with my doughnut (…) on one hand and two scoops of delicious…… ice-cream on the other. This is liberation! And I am testing the wi-fi connection provided here at the Tapah rest area (heading south). This is just what one needs to relax…how long? Until the battery drops dead ;)

So will the glucose stay long in the body? Hope not. Been running and shooting hoops 2 mornings in a row. Tomorrow is another early day for running and then will follow with a round of basketball. The thighs and the ab are feeling taut. Yeah, that feels good. The new pair of running shoes has been put to good use. It looks rugged with blades of dried grass and soil on the sole. I love exercise! But please no injury or muscles strain…no, no, no. that is one thing that must be prevented.

my lovely hyun bin

i finally found the time and the urge to start watching the not-so-recent-anymore korean hit series 'my lovely samsoon'.

now i know why sisters, cousin and basically korean drama lovers like it so much.

yeah, it relies on the formulaic plot i.e. girl meets boy/ boy meets girl, both find faults with each other, under some circumstances have to work together, start falling for each other, then come the third party(s), some unexpected events let the cat out of the bag and finally a happy ending.

what the heck, add a a little bit of humour and it works!! plus, in samsoon, you have the unladylike and brash demeanour. oh, not forgetting the cute hyun bin. can't help falling in love with his character.

ok..have to go back to watching. only at episode 5. still a long way to go...but who wants it to end??!!

new shoes...no mileage

Fate just keeps on intervening with my exercise plan.
it rained yesterday morning after i have laced my running shoes and started for only 5 minutes!
what is this!!! it did not rain on any other mornings before this, and suddenly the sky opened for the rain to fall on the chosen day! haih....
and yesterday, it rain in the evening too...twice a day! the sky is crazy. even while i am typing now, thunder is heard outside...so here comes the rain again.
yeah, on the right is my pair of new running shoes. the first time i am wearing mizuno. it does not feel as snug as my previous nike nor as soft on the sole...but will not give up on the mizuno first. after all i have only worn it for a day. hope it will be more comfortable after a few runs.

lethargy

lethargy is setting in due to lack of exercise. can't really seem to get a good rest. what happen to sleeping soundly?
let me count...i have not exercised for about 2 weeks....no running, no real sweating. plus, it has been raining without fail every evening. so how to put on that pair of running shoes and go sweat it out?
keep my fingers cross that it won't rain tomorrow morning. yeah! it is a public holiday. seven a.m. has been earmarked for jogging. been a while since i run in the morning. next week has few more days for this purpose. more public holidays. yeah!
so what are you guys doing on these days??

am i in deep shit?

What is the purpose of a survey form?
are you supposed to write your name down and be identified?
well, i filled one and was singled out for the comments i made. what is wrong with giving constructive criticism? according to the surveyor, i might be in hot soup for giving my opinions and not heaps of praises for the programme.
well, too late, that is what i think and the form has been submitted. changing whatever i have written would mean changing my stand.
the others i am sure feel the same but no one dares to voice out. someone voiced out support for whatever i wrote earlier when the surveyor mentioned my comments. is it a bane or boon to be out-spoken? or am i digging my own grave?
i just feel a streak of rebelliousness running in me. can pms do that to you?

are you inspired?

Where or when does inspiration come to you?
lately mine comes at night when the silent creeps in and the whole world seems to be quiet except for my wandering mind. be it in the bedroom or the toilet, things and ideas will crop up. but to what extend the idea will work is another matter and of course you have to find that someone who is willing to listen to you first.
being away from work has created an emptiness in me where i have the time to think or not to think. ;P no worries about work the next day aaahhh...
this will come to and end soon...

p/s: do you bloggers find that since having a blog, u do more thinking like things u wanna publish and feel detached when u do not log in for quite a while?

question.

question for mechanics out there.
i just need someone to answer my curiousity.
question: is it advisable to mix petrol from different
petrol stations or should this be avoided?? why??

thank you in advance to whoever is helpful enough to answer me.

Start building that foundation...

a good foundation in whatever you do is the essence of success...in my opinion.

i am feeling so bored here in this course. everyone is busy typing away on their notebooks while i am reading the morning paper page by page. yawn! well, i have finished all my work! and i am even ready for my presentation. the rest says i will be the only one doing the presentation. muahaha....better get it over and done.

the mind had been working non-stop thinking of presentation and typing everything down while the trainer was giving his talk in front. eh, i also did listen to whatever the trainer said and did the tasks given. i guess i just have the ability to multi-task.

the assignments given is quite a breeze because i went through the same drill last time in college. we really had lecturers who scrutinized our work till the last full-stop and were demanding in our work quality. thanks to all these training and lecturers, i have never been left behind in any class i attended thereafter.

looking at some colleagues, i really feel sorry for the customers under their care. some of these colleagues know peanuts about what they are doing and just give lackadaisical treatment to their customers. sigh. these are the products of one year of training only in the field whereas we received 6 years of specific training. (do i sound like blowing my own trumpet now?)
well, just trying to vent my frustration at the weaknesses in the current system.
i also do know that, there are others better than you out there...so one has to be open to new ideas and be ready to accept criticism and suggestions. i will keep that in mind and not turn to my stubborn as a mule side ;)

sports....

what is sport??

isn't it an event where an athlete has the opportunity to test and showcase his ability in the particular event?

but why is there so much back-stabbing happening outside the field as well? it is really disheartening to see adults doing all these and influencing the young ones with their malicious accusations. rumours being spread around and lies created to harm the reputation of the certain party. sports really do turn out the devil in you. well, at least one knows who the devils are now because of competition.

i found a quotation from the star today (22/04/07) by Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie, former world record holder for long distance.
Sport is just to show your ability, your effort, but outside of sport, why
fight?

how true. hope the devils will come to their senses and the innocent ones will be cleared of any unfair treatment. i want fair game!!!

Mi is back!

OMG!!! She is back in malaysia again this year in June....there goes my money. please be considerate when i complain of bankruptcy. booo hoooo hoooo.....there goes my money. dun ask me what i like about her, it is one of the idiosyncrasies in life which cannot be explained. i guess it is just one thing one has taken up and refused to let go. add a dose of fanatism in me.

with or without a boyfriend

a star reader (nazreen, mersing) today posted this by helen fielding (of bridget jones' diary fame) and i can't help from borrowing from her to put up here.
i will not sulk about having no boyfriend, but develp inner poise and authority and sense of self as a woman of substance, complete without boyfriend, as the best way to obtain a boyfriend.

i shared this with a male friend who was wallowing in self-pity about not having the right girlfriend as well and i guess this works for both genders.
this reminds me of a conversation i had with a family friend last week.
as soon as i said 'no', i still did not have any boyfriend, her response was telling me not to put my 'sight' too high. in other words, do not be so choosy.
sigh....does one just accept what comes along just because one is still single at this age??!!! sorry lo but i cannot force myself to do it. the more pressure is given, the more defiant i will get and go against what is expected of me. yeah, such a stubborn idiot you will call me. can't help it, this is me.

aussie boy doing fast and furious

rk house

my trusted car stereo

driving around is something unavoidable nowadays. it is always relaxing to drive on the highway except when there is a massive jam.

it is a time for me to unwind with the help of the car stereo and the local radio stations. i am just not a cd spinner since the tracks all will be so predictable. listening to the radio gives you more selections and fun, not knowing which track will come next. however, still no range driving lah. the risk of falling asleep is high. those couple of hours driving are fine.
happy driving to all ;)
photo 1: what a colourful mixture of colours. guess what is boiling in the pot.

photo 2: a new addition to the garden. dunno how it gets there but yup, it is a banana plant. wonder when it will bear fruits.

photo 3: snapped using kwei's k800i. nice huh??

ok..
been idle for quite a while...but actually nothing is happening much in life anyway except work work and more work.
just to make sure i have something posted every week, i am getting those photos out from my trusted handphone out now via this newer notebook with newer software versions so they are able to read my mobile phone software. the home pc is just waiting to be retired. wait till i find one way to get a cheap pc. that tm offer is so unreliable lah since there are so many hidden terms and conditions and the closed tm point shop is not helping either. so forget about it.

what a prick

am in the midst of a computer course now because i got the new notebook. teaching you how to use the notebook...programmes like adobe, powerpoint, maintenance of notebook, troubleshooting, etc.
and the thorn or the prick of this whole 2-day course is...the boss is here!!
of course i am not sitting with him. we sat at the back of the room and he was at the front.
but today (2nd day) he turns up not bringing his notebook at all! he told the instructor that it was difficult for him to catch up on the information given and he had trouble using the notebook and the softwares. what rubbish! if you have problem, shouldn't you have brought the notebook along so you can do trials and errors and get immediate correction and guidance on the spot??
i bet the boss is scared about the powerpoint presentation we had to present in front later. and he simply cooked up an excuse for not bringing the notebook thus not having to do the presentation later. that old fart!!! being here and not learning, leaving office and abandoning his work!! ooh...the sight of him sitting in front of me now (he has to share with someone today) makes me wanna puke!!! nope, i did not have any friendly banters with him...eeewwww.

i love betty

new watchable addictions:
1- ugly betty
2- grey's anatomy
luckily they have repeats of ugly betty on saturday. i miss the actual screening time on tuesday nite. hehe...something to look forward to every saturday noon. i guess betty's job is another that a million others wish they have (ala the devil wears prada). she sticks out like a sore thumb in the fashionable albeit cut-throat office environment. it is fun to see how she goes through each episode and the sights of those beautiful clothes is eye candy indeed.
grey's anatomy meanwhile is just as entertaining for its drama and human conflict issues. each episode leaves you hanging in your seat for the next one. and this is shown on sunday at 1.30pm.
it has been a while since i follow any series. i still remember my addiction with ally mcbeal. that was like ages ago. liked sex and the city too. all the series i like seems to be headed by a cast of women...mostly neurotic. haha.

blah, blah, blah

a quarter of a year has just passed by. oh how time flies. not that i am worrying about getting older and turning the big 3-0. on the contrary, it's like i have found peace because i have reached this milestone in my life. life has been good to me. i have a job, i have done some travelling, i am healthy (touch wood) and i am alive!
what more can i ask for? maybe the problem is with this contentment. it makes you not strive harder to go further and higher.
i even feel contented with singlehood (mom will smack her head knowing this). so how am i to fulfil the resolution made for 07??? i need excitement in my life!!! where is that guy who will sweep me off my feet and make my heart palpitate non-stop? i guess this kind of thing will only happen on screen, huh. am i asking for the impossible??

sleepless

the thought of getting a sound sleep at night nowadays seems to be a faraway thing. people are more concerned about safety issues where i stay in.
neighbours will gather outside the house discussing about the robbery cases that have been so rampant in the area within one week! one of the robberies was the row directly in front of mine, the corner lot house. man, this family is rich lah and their house is equipped with the alarm system. from what i heard, the alarm rang, but by the time the owner reached the switch, the robber was with his parang pointing at the neck already. this case was reported in the chinese paper.
then 2 days later, another case in a house nearby and another almost successful robbery if not for a boy who saw lights when he woke up to go to toilet. so scary.
everyone has told everyone else to be vigilant and secure the house. a friend has suggested keeping a hockey stick in the room. but i wonder whether the hockey stick will come to mind when it happens. touch wood...dun want to be the next victim.

nurtured by nature, powered by technology

just some photos of proton city for those who have never been there. a very quiet place but not something i will call a township (you need to have people living there before calling it a town). most of the bungalows are still empty except for 2 or 3.
there is a sports complex as well, equipped with track and field equipments, football pitch, indoor squash and badminton courts, outdoor takraw, basketball and netball courts. however, the running track has only officially been used once (last month) for a district level athletics competition since completion. what a waste. i wonder whether residents living here are free to use the complex.
proton gen 2 models were seen lining up outside the factory for despatch....and what a long stretch it is.

all souls day

aaarrrggghhhhhh.......feast of pork for the coming days!!
what are you going to do with 2 roast pigs???
an uncle bought them for 'ching ming' (chinese's all souls day) and mom sat chopping and cutting them up after they were offered to the ancestors. some were distributed to close neighbours and relatives. but there is still so much left. urrgghh....noon was already pork porridge...wonder what is next?

new companion

i miss blogging!!!!
has been bogged down by work for these 2 weeks!!
the table is spread with papers and files!!! and all need urgent attention. so die lah...which ever is more urgent or which ever needs to be handed in pronto is given immediate attention. sigh.
another reason for not blogging is the slow opening of the blogger log-in page. why do i have this problem at the workplace? i have no problem logging in at all at home. i just cannot seem to be able to get through the log-in page. anyone has any explanation?
well, might not have to depend on the office pc now. just received a new notebook : compaq presario v3000. hehe...not the latest model, so of course when it is free u dun complain lah. i found out that it has even been discountinued in hp official homepage! gulp....like we are the dumping site.
can do my surfing at the workplace via wi-fi, and dun have to fight for the limited pc. hehe...can even watch dvds! the thought just titillates me..shh....dun tell the boss.

congratulations nicol!!!

watched squash for the very first time in my life.

venue: berjaya times square, kl
date: 18 march 2007
time: 5-6.30pm
game: kl open, women's final; nicol david vs natalie grinham

this is something new to me. dun even know the rules of the game, or whatever the referee was calling out. just knew nicol was winning when the crowd cheered and clapped. ;) better go and check some basics of the game next time so i won't feel like a fool watching a game of squash.

it was actually quite difficult to even catch the game from where i was standing. had to stretch my neck to follow the ball. some unruly people were shouting while there were long rallies and were warned. is it really suitable to hold such a big event in a mall and have children running about or crying???

result: nicol david, defending champion of kl open.

new craze in town

new hobby...paper folding...not my new hobby but for some ladies i know here.
and the greetings of the day now is : eh how is the folding coming along???
i guess the craze started before chinese new year when everyone wanted to decorate their homes with fans, lanterns, red auspicious shaped hangings, etc.
then it has continued. as you know, chinese do have all their gold and silver papers they fold the whole year long to be burnt to the ancestors.
what more with the coming of all souls day (ching ming), it gives you another reason to indulge in this.
they have even bought books to refer to and some busy parents even send their daughters to master the skill.
i know men have joined this group too and are active as well.
as for me, i am just a bystander looking as more folded creations are brought into the house.

we won! we won! we won!!

oooooohhhhhhhooooooooooo!!!!
what an exciting doubles match!! koo kien keat and tan boon heong will emerge as the new heroes of the new generation!!!
congratulations on winning the 2007 edition of the all england. the crowd were rooting for them and i think they got a standing ovation from the crowd too. the commentator also did not forget to mention that their partnership is only 6 months old. so that is really awesome that they have created so many wins.
toast to them...and to more wins!!! keep your heads guys!!!

1 week escapade

one week....yes...you heard me right!! another week of rest!! dun curse me lah.....
it was hectic ok when it was back to work after chinese new year and the pace had not stopped at all till now. this week is only one to escape from work and to psyche oneself to resume work. sigh.
this is a week to escape!!!
MATTA fair is back and hopefully this time around something will materialize out of this fair...like the failed beijing trip in march! but i am short of one to make the group even!! how???? someone will have to be the odd one out and that person will most likely be me! duh..the other four going are all sisters! any gal out there interested to go?
cambodia trip in august is made safer now....thanks to the recent air asia discount frenzy (yet again!). 6 others colleagues have managed to book their tickets but i will still have to fly there one day earlier! they booked a day later because it was cheaper!!! and yes they can save one day of lodging in the hotel. oooohhhhhh!!! i will have to do the ground checking and source for deals. i hope we can arrange the landtour before we go. anyone has any advice to share? destination: phnom penh-siam reap-phnom penh.

life is a maze

ooh...if life is only just as spontaneous, impulsive, nerve-wrecking, exhilarating with happy endings as becky bloomwood's (aka mrs brandon).
i am totally smitten by this character from the shopaholic series. which girl isn't? she does land herself in hot soup most of the times, but everything fares well for her in the end. if only life is just as simple.
we have all our insecurities, blunders, doubts and the negative list goes on...but how many can be as frank (minus the visa bills) as becky? being such a reserved person myself, everything is bottled up and sometimes i think i am paranoid! :)
but i guess what i am writing now is just out of envy for becky. as soon as the effect of the book runs off, i will be back to the aggressive, self-centred, carefree self. you won't even know if i have any prob (thanks to my camouflage skills).
dun worry, i am not in any problem here.

so becky, what is next on the shopping list?

harry potter and the deathly hallows

pre-order has started...i did mine in mph.
pay a deposit of rm70, get a rm10 cash voucher, and the estimated price of the book is rm120 (sssoooo expensive!!!!..the most expensive book i will buy).
will be released on 21 july. comes with a paper bag and limited edition harry potter mug. hmm..initially the release date was 7 july ah...that would be so much better hehehehe....

aiyoh..i just found out on amazon that they are only selling the book for £9!!! so unfair!! why is the book so expensive in malaysia?? i hope that 120 price mentioned by mph is only an estimate. gulp!
diamond is a girl's best friend...
gosh, will everyone think twice now after watching blood diamond? i mean, it has been known all these while that people are exploited in the mine...but seeing it on screen makes it much more difficult to swallow or on the other hand, more real. if all guys brought their girlfriends to see this movie, they might be able to save quite a bit huh.
so does that mean no more bling bling??
this is just something i got forwarded in the mailbox. hehehe....dun u all wish that healthy lifestyle is just as simple as all the answers given??

HEALTH QUESTION &ANSWER SESSION

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain.

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?

A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! ... Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy? HELLO . Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.

And remember:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming Whoo what a ride".
With our heartfelt BEST wishes for a healthy, serene and fun-filled 2007 !
