the SLIDES in afamosa!!!

watching copout (bruce willis), having lunch (fried wantan, braised chicken feet and mushrooms and fried curry fish) and blogging at the same time.

mom and grandma are watching tv downstairs. i have timed my 'rest' time according to the tv schedule. have almost finished marking one class' essays when they started with their afternoon series. so work will resume when they finish later.

in the meantime, post on my trip to a'famosa resort on saturday with jason and his family.

picked them up at cardogan hotel at bukit bintang area at around 9.30a.m. they couldn't get a room at federal, so this was the next choice, just across the road.

obviously they did not have any breakfast because they actually woke up late. so i suggested going to imbi market for breakfast. i was not hungry as i had my breakfast earlier.
these are some of the stuff we ordered. just want to whet your appetite....checheong fun, popiah and yong tau foo.
i also ordered toasted kaya/butter bun. yummy. my favourite there.

then it was straight to melaka in my car. damn the traffic jam till seremban. we reached the resort at 12.30p.m.
the entrance.
i booked a room at their resort hotel, superior deluxe room at rm388...but of course jason's dad paid me back later. in fact, they paid for all expenses here, entrance fee and food.
this is our room, 2 queen beds. his mom and i shared one. there is a balcony for every room.

we headed to the waterpark at 1 plus.
we bought tickets for all parks- water park, animal world and cowboy town. weekend price is rm89 for singaporean and malaysian. how cheap it is for singaporeans.

one set meal is included in the price of the ticket. you can choose either chicken rice or chicken curry rice and a can drink. redeemable from 12 to 6p.m.

they bought new surf shorts and new shirts and new towels there. they just ran out of all clean clothes supply.
man, things here are really expensive. they really milk every cent they can. a packet of twisties is rm3.50. a can of cola is rm3. food outlets here are very limited as well. this is a park where once is enough.

ok now, the slides here.
these are called inner tube rides.

these are body slides....no tube...just you and the slides. fun.

the wave pool and the moat and the man-made beach.

family raft...yup one family into one rubber raft.
the staff here is really inadequate and they are not conversant in english at all. they cannot tell the foreigners the do's and don'ts of the rides. at some slides, you even have to push the tube down yourself. there are also no indicators to show the time gap for one to go down the slide. i had one girl who just came down right behind me after i landed in the pool. too quick.

and ooh la la...the speed slide. this is one helluva ride. you can see these two imposing slides from the highway on your way to melaka. luckily only one ride was functional. i don't think i would have the guts to go on the other on the right after going on the first one. it was soooo high....definitely taller than 3 storeys.

walking up to the top took like forever and with every step you took, the heartbeat grew stronger and nearer to the surface of the chest.

and once i was at the top, the bunch of guys (a group of cousins) told me to go ahead first. gulp. told me to cross my feet and cross my arms on my chest. no time to be fearful at all.

and i just dropped myself on the slide and whoooshh....down i went. it was quite narrow and i was afraid i was gonna fly out. but when i went down the first swoop, the narrowness of the slide vanished because fear came. the heart was thumping behind the layer of skin of the chest. my arms uncrossed for a while there because i wanted to hold the sides of the slide but i quickly pulled them back. it happened twice (2 drops). no scream came from me. and i survived the ride!!! the back of your shirt and pants would ride up by the time you reach the bottom. and ooh....you can go on the slides with your tee-shirt and shorts. just make sure you don't wear one with zipper. this ride is definitely not for the faint-hearted.

i needed no coaxing to go for the ride... i had psyched myself for this when i knew we were going. hahaha... i don't think there would be a second time. brrrrr....

ok by the time we came out from the water park, it was almost 5.30p.m. we wanted to go to the animal world but the staff said they were closing! luckily, we still managed to go for the last safari ride.
this is our caged ride. it was very bumpy and dusty but it was really fun going on all the humps and bumps and climbs and slopes.

some of the animals seen are deer, gazelles, crocodiles, ostriches, tigers, hyenas, bears, giraffes, zebras and african cows.

it was back to the hotel after that. and at 7 plus we walked to cowboy town for the night's activities and dinner.
there is a 4d theatre (rm20 for 15 mins show), bowling alley, pony and elephant rides, arcade games and red indian and animal parade.

dinner was at the chinese restaurant here. they only had set meals and we chose the one for 3 to 5 persons priced at rm148. the food is quite lousy but still edible. they also gave you a fruit platter at the end of the meal. so it is a 5-course dinner. bluh.

the parades started at 8 plus. there were fire eating shows, dances and animal performances. thank god for the shows. they were indeed quite interesting and could help you occupy 2 hours without a complaint. there was also a firework display at 10p.m. which lasted for more than 5 mins. brilliant way to end the night.

how tired and sleep i was.
so jason has matured a bit since the last time i saw him....his voice has changed and it was quite difficult to get used to. i could still remember his whines from beijing trip. he still loves eating a lot and is still shorter than yours truly. hahahaha. his mom is a very gentle woman who has her own shop selling baking ingredients. she also whips up 3 cakes daily to sell in the shop. i would love to try her cakes!!!

we checked out at 8a.m. the next day and i drove to his uncle's house in seri petaling. they were going to cameron highlands the same morning. 3 families went...jason's and his 2 uncles' families. they followed me to tg malim for lunch first though. i brought them to fuman restaurant and i think they had a good meal there. i had ordered all the dishes before that while in the car....with jason's mom help of course. we had steamed catfish, deep fried pork knuckle, stir-fried mushrooms, asparagus, lotus root soup, and belacan stir-fried brinjal, and beans.

we said our goodbyes at 2p.m.

what a trip. my one and only time to afamosa resort will be with this family. i don't think i want to go there again....unless someone promises to pay for everythinglah. i think his dad spent around one thousand there for the 4 of us. my contribution? petrol and tol and car. his mom wanted to reimburse me but she failed to chase me to put the money into my bag. yes....she chased me. till next time, jason.

ok to another non-related trip stuff. i have decided to have new curtains for all the rooms upstairs in the house here. i did a curtain survey for my sister in australia and took photos of patterns for her. but when i mailed her, she said i was too soon....her house would not be ready so soon. never mind.....

she does not like floral patterns but i love them. they are soo english countryside and vintage. so scones and tea.
i have chosen this one. my room here is old, the furniture is old, everything is in brown, the bed, the cupboard, the window frame and the table. the curtains are OLD and worn too. well, the new curtain will be yellow and brown but at least it is new. i will feel so OLD (won't i?) in the bedroom.

no point redecorating or changing the furniture since i don't spend so much time in the room. i can think of changing the mattress too.......but that will need a lot more money kan? save it.

ok, end of copout. tv is still on downstairs. let's facebook for a while.
