yangshou-guilin, day 3

although the weather was still gloomy, the spirit was still not down. it was still raring to see what yangshou and the lijiang river have to offer.

so came the turn of the yellow high-top reebok to get down to chinese soil. i was wearing grey hosiery too....because i had run out of jeans to wear. i did not bring any extra long pants and i brought shorts instead. the jeans was too filthy already after being soaked in the rain for 2 days.

and do you notice my yellow umbrella too? coincidence.

boohooo hoo....the entrance to the impression of liusanjie show. only a photo to remind us of what we had missed.

we headed to our last river cruise in yangshou and this is the most picturesque part. the view is even printed on their 20yuan note.

the 2 birds on the raft are known as fishermen's best friend. they will dive into the river and catch fishes for the fishermen. however, they would only let the fishermen have the big fish while they swallow the small ones themselves.
the fisherman brought the 2 birds onto the boat and it was photo time. there was also a photographer on the boat and you can buy the photo taken and laminated for only rmb10 (rm5). not expensive lah.

can you see the same view on the 20yuan note?

my group.
an islet on the river where hawkers set up their stalls selling souvenirs and snacks. the chinese love their corn on the cob.
another choice of transportation on the river.

the river cruise ended after about 75 mins and we left yangshou.

on the way back to guilin, we stopped at another park which is roughly translated to shangri-la from chinese. i think shangri-la means basically haven on earth or paradise right.

one of the local clans house.
their cultural tower where dancing and singing take place.
more aborigines who will sing and dance when they see your boat passing by. see the head swinging???

the guide had booked us for another boat cruise on the water system in guilin and we had to skip lunch at the restaurant because of that. she had to collect the tickets at 1.45p.m. and we only reached guilin slightly before 1.

but, it was a blessing in disguise. instead of the lunch with 4 dishes, 1 soup and one fruit platter, we got to taste guilin vermicelli noodles at a small local eatery. i love this meal very much. it was really delicious.
the bowl of vermicelli noodles and the big piece of beancurd made us very very full ah. the tour guide said we would go for our lunch in the restaurant later after the boat cruise, but we told her to cancel that instead. they refunded us rmb100. no complaint.

the glass boat for our guilin water system cruise. yup, it was drizzling again.

the sun/moon pagodas. you can see the copper construction now.

another banyan tree.

we had another hour to kill before leaving for the airport. so the guide brought us to a pedestrian street in guilin for us to find our own snacks and maybe do some shopping. it was a happening street with lots of youths. it would get busier as the day turns into night in this area.

so it was goodbye to guilin when we boarded our shanghai airline flight to guangzhou at 6p.m. the flight was delayed for 20 mins due to weather condition and we arrived at guangzhou at 8 plus. a bunch of noisy male youths were gambling behind us making sleep impossible. and the language they use, OMG....profanities just shot out in every sentence. it would make all kids at school blush in defeat. everything is in cantonese ah as we were then headed to guangzhou.
