goodbye tree

the outside of my house is no longer the same again. i used to direct people to my house by telling them to look out for the big tall flowering tree outside the house. my own eyes will dart and look for the tall tree once i turn the corner into my house as well. well, i guess this is all history now.

this was the tree in the midst of all the chopping by municipal workers. i happened to stumble upon the process as i made a detour home while on my way to kl on friday after work. there were cones blocking the road at both ends to the house and i was wondering who could be having a feast. hmmh....come to think of it, when neighbours have canopy outside the house, you won't find cones blocking your way. well, anyway, that was what came to mind when i saw the cones.

little did i know that the cones were meant for my own house. mom told me that dad told the head village about the tree which was getting too tall and was obstructing the electric cables and hence this action. very fast actions. the electric company staff refused to trim or cut the tree previously.

well, we did not have to pay for the service i think. mom said we did not when i asked. anyway, i thought it was just trimming the top and the tree would still be standing there when i came home today.

but...........................this was what i saw:
don't cry for me dear children!!! so this is what is left today when i came back. i felt an emptiness when saw the pile of dust and leaves there. man, there were not even branches left. the stump is there, covered by the leaves, but i think the tree is as good as dead.
mom lamented that there will not be a shady spot to park the car anymore. there will also be no tree to block the sunlight.

and we won't be seeing yellow flowers blossoming nor will we have flowers dropping onto our cars after rain. hmhh....this just reminds us that life goes on. when you are old, you just have to go away and make way for younger and newer thing. i guess we just have to start getting used to the empty spot in front of the house from now on.

haha....what do you think of my stocking??? mom laughed when she saw me. well, this is what i ordered from asos.com two weeks ago. i like it...but the size is a bit small. mom said, with my elephant stumps, i should know better to order a size bigger. noted, will do so the next time. i was following the size charts when i ordered. well, at least the socks still fit. the denim shorts is just right with the socks right? this will definitely go with me to europe! i am going to enjoy dressing up there hehehe. there is so much room to play with clothes when you are not under the scrutiny of your own local people.

do you remember the green 'vintage' dress?? shall i pair the socks with the dress?? hmm....what sort of shoes shall i wear??
