it is that time of the year again when i am losing my voice and my larynx feels like sand paper. the annual throat inflammation is here to visit me.
and i think i am not the only one sick in the family. sis is sick over there in australia and bro is sick in kl as well. well, don't mention grandpa who has been having his chesty cough for quite a while.
i know why i am losing my voice, but do they know why they are sick? i have been trying to finish the novel with the kids, and hence it was almost everyday of story-telling. i was doing the reading for them. luckily it is exam week come monday, so there will be 3 days of rest so i can rest the voice box at the same time too. that should help me recover.
i took a spoonful of manuka honey earlier. then got mom to buy me difflam from the pharmacy. i swear by difflam when it comes to throat inflammation. this anti-bacterial lozenge really work. i am also drinking lots and lots of water. however, this weekend, still got to do some talking. gave 2 classes today and tomorrow there are 2 more classes. trying to minimize the talking though.
and today, i got a forwarded e-mail extolling the benefits of onion as bacteria magnet. you just need to cut both ends of the onion, place it in the room and the germs and bacteria will attack the onion instead of you. well, i am trying that tonight. have cut a big onion into half. them into 2 bowls and one bowl is in grandpa's room while the other is in my room. gosh, i wonder if i can sleep with the strong scent of the onion meandering in the closed area. i can smell onion when i walked past grandpa's room already just now. i did not tell them that i put an onion there and they also did not query the odd smell. maybe as you get older, your olfactory is not as sensitive anymore. but i will tell grandma tomorrow morning.
it also works with garlic. so i guess there is no harm trying. i think my sis is also trying this method in aussie. hopefully there will be some positive outcome to share with you guys later.
i hope i won't wake up with onion breath tomorrow ;P
