adventure 2: going out to sea and getting all tanned
yup, i got as tanned as the locals and i had a few locals asking if i lived in nadi.
ok....just kidding about being as tanned as the locals. but the part if i lived in nadi was true. they really did ask me that and the reason given for this speculation was the way i speak. i guess i speak flat english.
anyway, let's start the journey to sea with my sister. yup, the rest did not go because they were afraid of sea sick.
remember this vacation booth above? it was wyndham resorts booth and we had registered earlier to attend their talk about their time share investment. did we have the money to invest? of course not.
the only attraction was the discount voucher for south sea cruise!!!
to join their one day cruise to south sea island which belongs to wyndham of course, one would have to pay f$159.
however, after listening to the presentation, one would only have to pay F$20!! is it a deal or what????
so my sister and i jumped onto the boat and we were picked up at our hotel at 8a.m. on the selected day.
this was the check-in counter for those going on the cruise. there were also passengers who were heading to some other islands and they also boarded the boats from this port.
this was our ride.
and off to sea we went!!!
that small island there was south sea island. that was another boat sending more ppl or picking up leaving guests.
there are also backpacker hostel on the island and meals are provided in the deal.
my sister and i chose to spend only few hours on the island. you could choose to spend the whole day there if you want, but i think it would be boring.
there were a few activities you could do while on the island.
this here is a half-submarine. it will bring you out to sea, and you get to see underwater while seated in the sub.
this here is the view inside the sub. those who have a phobia for closed area will definitely feel stuffy.
the glass was not that clear, hence the view we got was quite blurry as well. we saw reefs and fishes. sad to say, most of the corals and reefs were dying and not colourful.
clear water on the island.
but no sandy beach here. instead, you got dead corals everywhere.
luckily, there were still patches of sand for us to go barefeet.
kayaking.
diving.
spa.
swimming pool.
free flow of drinks.
buffet spread for lunch.
singing and dances.
my sis and i got onto another boat for the cruise to other islands after lunch.
the cruise was about two hours and we were on the upper deck totally exposed to the sun. that was the best place to get all the breathtaking views, hence some sacrifices had to be done.
i couldn't remember all the islands we saw, but basically we saw sea sea sea and islands here and there, some big, some small, some inhabited, some with resorts.
this is castaway island. no prize for guessing where the island got its name.
yup, the movie castaway staring tom hanks because it was filmed here. nope, i did not see wilson ;)
you could reach the island in style. hop onto a helicopter from the airport and be delivered here again by air.
chalets on stilts.
another plane.
captain cook cruise ship. not sure where it was heading. but at night from hilton, we could see it just floating in the middle of the sea.
we ended our day's journey at around 7p.m., burnt and exhausted.
it was a good trip....especially the part where we only paid F$20 kekeke.....
staying in castaway island should be fun and beautiful. so those who are heading to fiji and like some peace and quiet, you can consider skipping the main island and head to these farther islands.
