3rd day to the hospital

something is definitely wrong with the usb of my phone!!! the computer cannot detect my phone at all hence i have problem loading photo. i had to resolved to sending it to the online mobile blog via the telephone, then save the photo from the mobile blog to the computer, and finally post it here.

when i get the extra phone from my brother, i am going to send my phone to the workshop. no new phone yet. enough purchase for this year.

ok my day?

if you had read my post yesterday, i was supposed to wake up at 8a.m. today....but i woke up much earlier than that- 6.35a.m. dad woke me up saying grandma needed me. before that dad had gone down and i guess grandma woke up with a start this morning. he told dad to get her clothes which she was going to wear for her funeral, saying she was dying.

when i got down, she ordered me to drive her to the hospital because her hand was swollen and she stressed that she was dying. when i refused, saying the hospital was not opened yet, she said, 'then call your uncle, if you don't bring me , i am sure he will bring me.' then she said, 'it is the last favour you are doing for me because i am dying.'

omg....i had to act in front of the phone, pretending i was calling and telling her that i could not get through because they had switched off their phone. she said i was lying because it was impossible they would switch the phone off.

then i went to sit down complaining i wanted to sleep and blah blah blah. in the meantime, i also messaged my sis in aussie telling her to call back to pacify grandma and to talk to her.

haha....when they called 2 minutes later, she also said she was dying. then i think slowly they managed to get the idea off her head and talked to her about other things.

while she was talking i went out to get the newspaper and met the group of ladies who did taichi in front of the park. i told them grandma was already awake and they came in the house after grandma finished talking with sis.

so to cut the story short, in the end i did not have to call uncle and i did not bring her to the hospital- in the morning.

what a morning.

but....if you think that a bad start will lead to a better day later....you are totally wrong.

i went to the local hospital again three days in a row.

and i felt guilty for going so late in the evening.

do you have experience of dealing with plaster of paris cast? well, i don't nor do the rest in the house.

i thought a little bit swelling was permissible since your movement would be restricted and hence blood would not circulate well.

well, grandma's hand was slightly swollen and bloated but not greenish in colour yet in the morning. i thought it was going to reduce as the day continue.

but as the day went on, the swell did not seem to go and the green had become darker. aunt and cousin left for slim river at 3p.m. to have their break. so after they left, i kept on observing grandma's hand and got to think in the silence then. as the hours passed, her hand was becoming more and more like michelin man's and the fingers too.

so i decided to make a phone call to ask for opinion. and bless him, mr pek called back all the way from kota kinabalu where he is posted now.

i explained to him the scenario and he told he to try putting a finger into the cast, because that is the gap that it should have. alas, i could not even fit the tip of my finger in...and that was when he said,' go to the clinic now'. so again, i quickly bundled grandma into the car together with the main my aunt left behind and went to the hospital again.

the same indian attendant was there to meet us and once they saw the swollen hand, they said that we had to take off the cast.

so they saw it, don't worry, it was not painful for grandma..and we noticed a broken blister on her wrist cause the cast was too tight.

this is the photo i want to show all. grandma's cast half sawn and her swollen fingers. ok so now you know what is the permissible swell for a cast. gosh, i am learning so many things in the midst of all the blunders i am making as well. you can see some blood stain underneath those flowers cause by the broken blister. there was no blister at all when she fell. and oh, those flowers? my cousin drew them.

anyway, they dared not put a cast back on the arm here because of the blister and hence, grandma was sent all the way back to slim river again in ambulance. the maid followed while i went back to the house. aunt and uncle took over from there.

so i only sat waiting at home. in the end, they came back at around 9p.m. and grandma was put in another cast- but this time it was fibre, lighter.

the slim river doctor was not happy that the cast was taken off in tm....

but i dun understand how they could put another cast over the arm when there is a blister wound on the wrist. ah pek mentioned about backslab which i think is definitely a better way lah. haiz....i hope the blister wound will not get infected under the fibre cast.

grandma is using adult diaper now at night. and this morning i helped her took it off. my first time doing this kind of thing. luckily i was not labelled as an 'evil' person and hence got to do this service for her.

i am taking everything as a learning process. that is my only way of comforting myself. i gain through this journey and i have nothing to lose.

ok...i am losing my sleep now. who knows what time grandma will shout for me again tomorrow. it is 1230a.m. now. better hit the bed.
